Real Madrid ends four year trophy drought

Real Madrid has been crowned Spanish champions for the 30th time. They won their last game of the league against Real Mallorca 3- 1. Both Real and Barce have 76 points now, but Real wins on head to head.

Fernando Varela scored the opening in the 17th minute for Mallorca. Reyes scored two goals for Real in the 68th and 83rd minutes. And then there was Miguel’s own goal in the 80th minute.

This ends Real Madrid’s 4 year trophy drought and also David Beckham gets to celebrate his first trophy for real before he leave for Los Angeles Galaxy.

Beckham: Back and getting England on track

In August last years England’s new manager Steve McClaren Dropped David Beckham from his team. His Justifications were that he was "looking to go in a different direction" with the team, and that Beckham "wasn't included within that". But On 26th of last month David Beckham was recalled to the national team after some excellent performances for Real Madrid and after England's poor form during qualification for Euro 2008.

Since then Beckham has played two matches for England. The first one was England vs Brazil played at Wembley Stadium. Beckham delivered a pinpoint free kick to the far post allowing Terry to score a header in the 68th minute. But a win for England was denied by Diego in injury time, ending the match England 1 – 1 Brazil.

The second match was played last night, England VS Estonia for Euro 2008 qualifiers. England won 3-0. Joe Cole scored the opener in the 37th minute. Two more were scored in the 54th and 62nd minutes by peter crouch and Michael Owen from Beckham’s Crosses.

Beckham has made a total of three assists out of the four goals scored in these two games. Beckham has proven that he is worthy to be in England’s squad and would possibly play a huge role in qualifying England for the Euro 2008. Yep England's best player ever is back on the team for good....

AC Milan Wins Champions League for the Seventh Time

AC Milan made sure there was no Liverpool comeback this time.
Filippo Inzaghi scored two goals and Milan did it by the book to win European soccer's biggest prize for the seventh time last night at Athens, beating Liverpool 2-1 in the Champions League final.
It was a repeat meeting of their 2005 final when Milan tossed away a 3-0 halftime lead to lose on penalties after a 3-3 draw that become one of the greatest finals in the competition's 52-year history.

"These are the evenings that remain with you for all your life," Inzaghi said. "I've scored quite a few times in Europe but scoring in the Champions League final is something special."

"The defeat two years ago will stay me for a lifetime," Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso said. "But this is a different story. It's our turn to celebrate now."

Milan moved within two of Real Madrid's record of nine European Cup triumphs. Liverpool has won five times.

Milan went ahead when Andrea Pirlo's 45th-minute free kick went through the wall and deflected off the side of Inzaghi and past goalkeeper Pepe Reina.

Inzaghi made it 2-0 in the 82nd, taking a pass from Kaka in the center, spurting ahead and rolling the ball from an angle past the outstretched Reina.

Dirk Kuyt scored for Liverpool with a minute to go. This time, however, there was no extra time and no penalty shootout.
